In the beginning, it didn’t mean much. It was this thing my father used to wave around with, “Sara, stand next to your sister”, he said and snapped a picture. Later on I started to appreciate the vintage photos my parents had taken back in Iran. My parents wedding, my first birthday to me sitting next to my elder boy cousins that I always tried to keep up with their pranks

Fast forward to the digital photography era, we’re sharing pictures on social media and communities and I’m snapping away with my compact camera. But it wasn’t really until a few years ago when I got the opportunity to learn the basic settings of how an DSLR camera works that started everything.

What I loved about it was how you could easily make things appear different, from big things to make my legs look longer. Haha! But these discoveries helped my curiosity grow more profound and I loved the playfulness of editing, which is next part of the art that has been a great discovery. No one really though me, I just looked what I liked and translated it into creating it by myself. By observing others, the light the contrast, the composition of objects I managed to always to be open for thing new things.

Which is why I’m always excited to see how someone shoots, rather than to just give direction on how I usually prefer the photo. Same goes with yourself, when we allow us to take some steps outside of what we already know–new things will emerge. As a creative, I believe its one of the most important aspects of being able to progress within the creative field with curiosity because it comes from a joyous place.

On a personal note, this is only the beginning and I know for certain that more doors will continue opening but first and foremost I’m bulding my next door. Photography being a big part of it and I am excited to see how it will unfold as well as the conversations it will create.  One of the purpose of building the next door is also to create a place where some of the important aspects of creating can come in full circle, something I will share will you briefly. Until then, stay curious.

WHAT I WORE

  • Natali

I adore photography… I found huge love for it about 8 years ago and ever since I have been a photographer and I see everything that surrounds me in “frames”.
Beautiful world we’re living in, people, moments… I capture everything with my eyes, then usually phone and I get my camera out only when I’m travelling or shooting/ working but I’m constantly taking some photos of something or someone. 🙂
I also love to go through the photos, esp. the old ones and bring back so many memories to life after going through those photos…

You are looking gorgeous as always Sara and I totally love your earrings and sneakers!
